Many Chinese companies are focusing a lot on handsets capable of good selfies and now HTC took this trend and apparently developed a phone from it. They already have very good cameras at the front of devices like HTC One M8 and HTC One, for example. Now there’s a certain “HTC Eye” in the making.
Keep in mind that even the cheaper models like HTC Desire 816 and HTC One E8 have very good front cameras, generating some nice looking selfies. HTC took risks before, when they launched two Facebook phones, but the risk didn’t pay off. Now they’re going the selfie way and while other companies have handsets with rotating 13 megapixel cameras, they will simply focus on a front cam as good as a main camera.
@evleaks claims that AT&T is already testing such a selfie phone and the name HTC Eye came up. We’ve got no images or specs of the device, sadly. We saw other midrangers or flagships with very good front cameras, like the Huawei Ascend P7 and its 8 megapixel shooter at the front. With a bit of luck the HTC Eye may also arrive in other regions of the world, aside from USA.
