While the HTC One M8 Ace/Vogue was pretty much confirmed after HTC posted its pics on its official site in China, it would appear that the premium version of the phone, the HTC One M8 Prime has been cancelled. The info popped up on the web today and I advise you to take with a grain of salt.

The Prime was supposed to be a LG G3 rival, pitting against it a 5.5 inch QHD display, as well as a Snapdragon 805 processor and an 18 megapixel camera at the back. The handset was also said to have a ceramic body, a 5 MP camera and it was meant for a September unveiling. It would have also battled the Galaxy S5 Prime, if that was real. Anyway, we could be dealing with a mere rebranding, as HTC was said to go with the One M8 Plus branding anyway…

If the product is cancelled, that means HTC has something even better lined up, or that they want to focus on the M8 this year and not cannibalize it. Also, their midrange strategy is paying off, since the Desire 816 is very much talked about. Do you think the Prime will happen or has it been canned?
