HTC has been teasing an event for September 29th and said event will be taking place in Japan. We could be dealing with the debut of HTC Butterfly 3, that has been teased recently actually.

Also, HTC just did a low key launch of a phone yesterday, the HTC Desire 728, so the September 6th event is done. Having a good look at the current teaser, it’s clear we’re expecting a higher end phone, even higher than the HTC One M9 and related models. The tagline “the world best meets the best” shows a clear comparison with the HTC One M9.

The “II” in the image leads me to believe that it will be a HTC One M9 II, but that’s only speculation from my part. We could see the HTC Aero/One A9 announced on September 29th, since a lot of leaks have been happening lately. The Butterfly 3 still makes more sense, since traditionally Butterfly phones debuted in Japan first.

Considering the superiority of the newcomer, we could see a Quad HD screen, 4 GB of RAM, USB Type C port, fingerprint scanner, a 20+ megapixel camera and powerful new CPU, Helio X20 or Snapdragon 820. It’s interesting to see that HTC completely ignored IFA 2015, in favour of a launch yesterday and one in Japan later on. They probably want to stand on their own, without other companies stealing the spotlight.
