Peter Chou, known as the cofounder of HTC has been appointed chairman of the visual effects firm Digital Domain Holdings. For the past months, after leaving the position of HTC CEO he was functioning as “head of future development” over at HTC also supervisor of their virtual reality platform Vive.

Now Chou will be in charge of Digital Domain Holdings, being welcomed by CEO Daniel Seah. The latter considers the former CEO a pioneer of the tech industry and well placed within the whole VR scene and immersive experiences and technology. It will be interesting to see if Chou is keeping any role at HTC, particularly in the VR Vive project.

Digital Domain Holdings has been involved with movies like Iron Man, Transformers, X-Men, Titanic, Her and Tron: Legacy, creating their visual effects. It seems like Robert Downey Jr will cross paths again with Peter Chou, this time as Iron Man, if he plays the character again and if DDH provides them with special effects. In the HTC days, Chou contracted RDJ for a billion dollar campaign that pretty much failed.

I can’t help but wonder if I should consider Chou totally out of HTC now.
