We’ve reviewed and unboxed quite a few Huawei models lately, including some Honor models and the P9, but what about the G series? Well, today we also scored one such model, the Huawei G8, unboxed below for your viewing pleasure. This model is priced at $349.
We’re dealing with a handset announced at IFA 2015 with the Huawei Mate S and also known as the GX8. It fits right between the Mate and the Honor series and comes in a tall and narrow box, much like the one of the Huawei P8. Inside the box we find the charger, USB cable, manual, metal key to prop open the slots and headphones.
The handset is available in a gold, gray or silver version and it packs a 5.5 inch Full HD screen, but Huawei opted for a TFT panel this time, not an IPS LCD or AMOLED. The interesting bit is the fact that this is a 2.5D panel, so not just any screen. The phone measures 7.5 mm in thickness and weighs 167 grams. It packs a Snapdragon 615 CPU, 3 GB of RAM and a 3000 mAh battery, plus a 13 megapixel main camera capable of optical image stabilization.
The OS here is Android 5.1 with EMUI 3.1 and we find a fingerprint scanner at the back. We’ll be back with a full review very soon, but in the meantime you can find the updated price here.
