It’s finally time for the Americans to get to buy a flagship Huawei phone, the latest flagship that is. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro may not have received the love of US carriers, but it’s certainly getting some from retailers. And today it’s up for preorder in the States. You can also find prices for it on Amazon.
The device was unveiled last Fall and it was already available in Europe and Asia. It’s priced at around $800 in USA and it’s positioned on the market as a Galaxy Note 8 rival. Mate 10 Pro works on GSM/LTE networks, so those on Sprint or Verizon can’t use it on those networks. We reviewed this smartphone last month and found it to be the best looking Huawei phone in history and the AI features to be quite useful.
The handset has a crisp screen (Full HD+ AMOLED, HDR) with OK colors and a top 5 performance. It can easily fight HTC U11 and Pixel 2 XL, plus the Note 8 performance-wise. Bokeh captures look great and the Projection Mode has a plus, since it’s basically a rival for the Galaxy Note 8 DeX, without actually needing a DeX. It may not have the best OIS in the world, but its videos are pretty crisp, especially the 4K ones.
The Kirin 970 is the real star here, with an NPU with AI features that trigger automatic scene recognition, real time translation and more. I won’t bore you with details, so I suggest you watch the in depth review below.
