Huawei may have unveiled the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro (that became the Porsche Design model in the end), but apparently there was a third model that should have come during last week’s event. It’s the Huawei Mate 9 Lite, that just leaked on the web, after being certified by the FCC.
As expected, it comes with a dual camera at the back, following the trend of the Mate 9 and Huawei Honor 5X, for example. The product has passed certification phase, receiving the FCC approval for use on FDD-LTE networks, WCDMA and the works. It also got certified for Bluetooth and WiFi usage within the b/g/n standards. Huawei Mate 9 Lite will be a dual SIM model with two nano SIM card slots and one of them will also be used as a microSD card slot.
The device is expected to be announced as Huawei Mate Lite in North America, according to official documents. We’re expecting Android 7.0 Nougat to be on board, a metal case, fingerprint scanner at the back and at least a Kirin 950 CPU, the one from the Mate 8. The dual camera design is pretty similar to the one of the Mate 9, but I doubt the resolution is the same.
I also don’t seem to spot any Leica branding. Expect a debut soon enough, possibly with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 5.5+ inch screen.
