Huawei P20 Lite debuted out of nowhere last week, sporting the famous notch and a dual back camera. Now, as you know, Huawei likes to launch multiple versions of the same phone. That’s how the Huawei Nova 3e came to be, being introduced today. It’s a version of the P20 Lite with a beefed up front camera.
It’s by no means the first time that Huawei does that, since they’ve released the Huawei Mate 10 Lite in about 5-6 versions so far. Huawei Nova 3e comes with a beautiful glass back, it measures 7.4 mm in thickness and weighs 145 grams. It will be available in black, blue and rose gold and it brings a 5.84 inch Full HD+ screen with a 19:9 aspect and a 2.5D curved glass panel upfront.
Inside we find the midrange octa core CPU Kirin 659, together with 4 GB of RAM and either 64 or 128 GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot, within a hybrid dual SIM system. At the back we find a fingerprint scanner and also there there’s the dual camera, with a 16 MP + 2 MP sensor. The novelty compared to the P20 Lite is the front camera, with a 24 MP sensor, a Sony IMX576, which is an upgrade from the 16 MP selfie cam of the P20 Lite.
The battery is a 3000 mAh unit with fast charge and the OS is Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top. The phone is available in China on preorder starting today and it ships from March 27th. Prices are $315 for the 64 GB storage version and $347 for the 128 GB storage model.
