Back when 2017 was ending we pulled off some more unboxings, including the one of the iHunt Hero. iHunt is a brand from Romania, that sells hunting gear and rugged phones among others. The device feels a lot like the Bluboo S1 and it’s unboxed below. It’s priced at around $147 and it’s a modest midranger with a dual back camera.
This 5.2 incher has an impressive set of accessories. Inside its box we find a silicon case, the charger, microUSB cable, screen protection and SIM key. We’ve got a glass panel at the back and one at the front, although you wouldn’t tell at first sight. There’s a 2.5D glass panel at the front and back and you can spot the curvature, if you look closely.
The fingerprint scanner has been integrated within the Home button upfront, a rather typical approach. iHunt Hero has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD 720p display, with narrow bezels and it’s quite a stuffy little machine. Inside it we find a pretty old CPU, a quad core 32 bit MediaTek MT6580 chipset. It’s clocked at 1.3 GHz and comes bundled with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot.
The handset measures 8.5 mm in thickness and weighs 184 grams. It’s got a 3000 mAh battery and at the back we find the dual 8 MP back camera, with autofocus, HDR and dual LED flash. Upfront there’s a 5 MP shooter with interpolation for selfies. Android 7.0 Nougat is the OS of choice, with virtual buttons and all that. The UI is slightly customized, including the camera one.
We’ll be back with a full review soon enough.
