Japan is certainly the world’s most advanced nation when it comes to mobile/telecom technology, especially since they have over 100 different handsets launched each year. Well, Gfk Japan, a famous market research company found that the best sold phone model in the January – March 2011 time frame is the iPhone 4.

The top 10 of cellphone sales includes especially iPhone versions and Android devices, with only 2 feature phones being part of it. Gfk’s statistics shows that the 16GB iPhone 4 was the best selling item in Q1, followed by the 32GB iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S on third place. Next up is the Toshiba REGZA Phone T-01C and Sharp IS03.

Sixth came Sharp LYNX 3D SH-03C, followed by Toshiba IS04, Panasonic P-07B, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc SO-01C and finally Kyocera Kantan Keitai K005. This shows a strong passion for local brands, that are however surpassed by Apple…
