Getting the iPhone in its offer is probably the best thing that could happen to Verizon Wireless, specially since AT&T has the official exclusivity for the handset till 2010. USA Today claims that Steve Jobs took part in the negotiations between Apple and Verizon, that took place months ago.

Will the Apple-AT&T contract expire in 2010, as rumoured, or will it be prolonged, making the iPhone a huge cash cow for the carrier? While Verizon is hoping to get a piece of the iPhone pie, AT&T must be fighting equally hard to keep the ball in their court. A decision to break the exclusivity contract might hurt the American carrier pretty bad, so they’re in a tough spot right now…

I bet that a couple of Verizon customers are really thrilled, specially if they’ll get their hands on a future iPhone 4.0 first.
