Karbonn Sparkle V is a handset that’s part of the first wave of Android One models and it has arrived on our test table. This device was launched in September 2014, it’s priced at a mere $91 in India and it comes in a narrow and minimal packaging.
Android One means affordable phones with the latest Android software and the promise of timely updates for 2 years from launch. The phone measures 10.4 mm in thickness and bundles a pair of headphones, charger, USB cable and manuals. It weighs over 100 grams and packs a 1700 mAh battery inside. The phone integrates a 4.5 inch IPS LCD screen, with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution and it also brings 1 GB of RAM and a microSD card slot.
We’ve got a quad core 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor inside and 4 GB of ROM. Upfront there’s a 2 MP camera, while at the back there’s a 5 MP main shooter with LED flash. This unit is expected to get Lollipop very soon. It has a very fluid UI and two SIM slots, plus a bright red case, with a back cover that’s easy to remove and put back. We’ll be back with a review ASAP.
