Kyocera announced today the DuraForce XD phablet, a device that comes with military standard ruggedness and brings support for FDD-LTE and WCDMA, plus GSM. This model is offered on AT&T in SUA and it’s pictured below.

Packing a 720p 5.7 inch screen with an IPS LCD panel, this device offers support for LTE Category and stands out through a dust proof and waterproof case. The product complies with the IPX5/IPX8 standards, as well as the IP6X one. It also sticks to the toughness standards defined by the MIL-STD810G code. Inside this model there’s a 3700 mAh battery and we seem to be getting a customized flavour of Android here.

Kyocera Duraforce XD handles drops, dunks in water, vibrations and even high altitudes and low pressure and humidity. It offers Enhanced Push to Talk functionality, a walkie talkie style feature, used on some job sites, like oil rigs or mines. The screen is highly sensitive to touch even with gloves or wet hands.
