LG Innotek unveiled during the Korea Electronics fair a new type of all in one module, one that includes an iris scanner and photo module together. This innovation could be included on the LG G6, it appears.
Samsung innovated in the field of iris scanners, including its best on the Galaxy Note 7, but that phone was canned, so the battle for supremacy is open in this field. Compared to a dual module of the kind, the new two in one setup will have a reduced volume from 0.47 cm3 to 0.36 cm3. Iris scanning will be used for authentication on the device, plus safer payments.
LG G6 is expected to be unveiled at MWC 2017, with a metallic case, but also giving up the modularity. It’s said to still get a dual back camera, 6 GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 CPU and a Quad HD display. LG should also try and improve the screen and battery, underwhelming on the LG G5 this year.
