If HTC Sensation got an upgrade through the Sensation XE model, why wouldn’t the LG Optimus 2X get an equivalent? We can consider such an equivalent the just detailed LG Optimus EX, a dual core Android smartphone, meant to reach the Korean carrier SK Telecom.
This is a Gingerbread device with a 9.5mm waistline, a 1.2GHz dual core CPU (with unknown maker) and a 4 inch WVGA display. There’s also a 5 megapixel camera on board and connectivity including WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. Optimus EX will come in black and white flavors and we sure hope to see it on other parts of the world aside from Asia.
Also, you should expect a custom LG UI on top of Android 2.3, as it usually happens with models from the Optimus series. The appeal of this smartphone is that it could have a low price, considering it would have to compete with the big sharks from HTC and Samsung, loaded with 1.5GHz dual core CPUs, lots of RAM and storage.
