I can’t guarantee that what we have here is a real image of the upcoming LG Optimus U1, or simply a good render, but the fact is that I’ve stumbled upon something interesting. Supposedly, this model will be the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone from LG…

LG Optimus U1 is only a codename for now, so expect a different branding when the handset hits the stores. I also have to mention that the design of this handset looks very much like the one of Samsung Galaxy S II, with a bit of LG Optimus styling in the mix. Sources say that LG will launch this phone as its first with the new flavor of android, but this makes me wonder why there’s a physical chrome button in the middle of the bottom area of the device.

What good is a Home button if you already have those virtual keys in Android 4.0? No specs are available for the LG Optimus U1, aside from what we know from speculations: 4.3 inch display, 8MP camera at the back, a sleek design and most likely a dual core 1.2GHz processor on board. There’s always the option of launching this model with WP7.5 Mango, but we have no idea how this will go down in the end.
