LG has just showcased a 3D display for mobiles at CES 2011, a technology that doesn’t require glasses in order to view tridimensional content. They showed the public and press a 4.3 inch 480 x 800 pixel touchscreen based on parallax barrier technology and providing a wide viewing angle and bright image.
CES attendees will have a shot at using this display, that will most likely be included in LG’s upcoming smartphones. This WVGA touchscreen doesn’t require special glasses and relies on light-blocking slits attached to the front side of the LCD panel. This mechanism allows the user’s left and right eyes to see different images, giving the impression of depth and 3D effect.
