We’ve known for a while that HTC is preparing quad core handsets for MWC 2012 and now there’s another contender to the premiere quad core handset: LG. They’ve just had their LG X3 Tegra 3 smartphone leaked, as you can see in the photo below. There’s also a list of specs that appeared on the web together with this image, also available after the break.
LG X3 is supposed to be a 720p display smartphone with a diagonal of 4.7 inches, just like the rumored HTC Edge/Endeavour, also a quad core phone. The LG smartphone will feature a chassis that’s less than 9 mm thick, plus an 8 megapixel camera at the back, 1.3MP cam upfront and 16GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot on board and Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be the OS here, predictably enough. On the connectivity side we get Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and HSPA with 21Mbps speeds, plus LTE in some regions, according to rumors.
To juice up all this hardware there’s a 2000 mAh battery and I expect that NFC would also appear among the specs. LG X3 will most likely not keep this name, since this sound more like a codename, so expect a rebranding by the time we get to play with the prototype of the first LG quad core phone at MWC 2012, next month, in Barcelona.
