According to the latest news that Digitimes has gathered Microsoft will launch a reference design Windows 8 device sometime mid year. The smartphone is made according to guidelines all manufacturers should follow if launching devices in the same category running the new version of the Windows OS.
The reference design should make it easy for manufacturers to build Windows 8 tablets and smartphones from the ground up. It should also make it easy for consumers to identify the product they want while basing their decision on other factors such as brand and features. Nokia is one of the manufacturers expected to follow the guidelines and launch new Win 8 devices this 2013.
