After seeing the mobile Firefox early developer version get released for Nokia’s Internet tablet, we recently got word that the long-awaited browser will be ready to run on your favorite Symbian devices starting April 2009. That’s when the Mobile Firefox team and the Symbian engineers will have finished working on the software and will probably launch it.

In case you’re wondering that happened to the rest of the mobile platforms, Symbian is get more attention because it has a better presence on smartphones right now and a better market share. Of course we’ll see Firefox Mobile on Windows Mobile handsets as well, but not as soon as April/May.

As for the Android, iPhone and RIM platforms, Mozilla officials claimed that they can’t deploy their software on those, because of technical or licensing reasons. If you’re not in the mood to wait till April, you’ll get a basic/limited browsing version of the browser in February.
