Modu is the famous modular handset that uses jackets to expand its features and you might already know that it’s only available in Israel at the moment. However, there’s already a pretty interesting successor coming, dubbed Modu 2 and reaching the high end segment.

Pocket-lint claims that we’ll see a touchscreen phone with HSDPA connectivity and a jacked that implements a full QWERTY keyboard. This new version of Modu should reach more markets than Israel (the device maker’s home country), so we’ll see it in stores in the US, UK, Japan and West European countries, sometime in 2010.

Right now, only 1000 Modu units have been sold in Israel, but the number will grow, as the device expands to Indian, Russia, Greece, Romania and South American countries.
