Modu is known for its modular device, the lightest phone in the world and an extremely customizable piece of gadgetry. Sadly, in spite of the originality and potential of this handset, the company’s not doing great, as 100 workers have been fired and some executives, summing up to about 25% of the Israeli company’s staff.

Dov Moran, Modu CEO assured the public that they’ll still launch the Modu phone next year, in April on Cellcom, a local carrier, followed by TIM (Italy) and Vimpelcom (Russia). The creator of the lightest phone ever is now searching for a publicity agency to promote its product, although this is usually done by carriers…

Will Modu make it to the next decade? Just wait and see…
