Motorola Droid X 2 might have been recently spotted at the FCC, under a different name: IHDT56MJ1. This is a mystery FCC filing we’re talking about, with specs that fit the Droid X 2: CDMA, EVDO and WiFi 802.11n. It could be that the handset is in fact Droid Bionic, but Droid X 2 is the favorite on the rumor list.

There’s also a short term confidentiality letter attached to the filing, with Moto requesting the FCC to keep photos, manual and other details locked for 180 days from the February filing. This places the launch in mid August, which we might relate to the mid-July launch of the original Droid X.

The new smartphone is supposed to a be a large Verizon-directed relative of the Atrix model, sporting a 4.3 inch display, a dual core Tegra 2 CPU and an 8 megapixel camera. The same updated Blur interface from the Bionic will be used on it and we have to say that differences between the Bionic and X 2 are rather small.
