All of you Motorola Droid X owners should double check your phone for a very cool Android 2.3 Gingerbread right now, since the software has been available for hours now. The folks of DroidXForums are confirming a silent update rolling out to a few users hours before the general public.

The update process is easy to perform, but if you’re using modified software, you’ll need to restore to stock version to benefit from the upgrade. What Gingerbread brings on the Droid X is a series of UI improvements for better speed and simplicity, plus more intuitive text input and one touch word selection.

Power management has also been improved, as well as control over applications and now there’s native Internet calling support available. Responsiveness is also among the things enhanced by this software.
