We’ve just heard from the usual “reliable source”, quoted by Hothardware, that Motorola is planning to launch a Droid X2 smartphone, bearing the codename Daytona. Verizon Wireless will perform the launch and the handset will be dual-core material.

The rumors also include a 4.3 inch display with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, while the dual-core CPU we mentioned is most likely an NVIDIA Tegra 2 unit. As far as the OS is concerned, Droid X2 will run Android 2.2 Froyo, with a Gingerbread upgrade coming soon after launch.

Speculations end the supposed specs list with an 8MP camera with 720p HD video capture, HDMI out and DLNA. No info on connectivity, but we’d love to have 4G LTE on this baby.
