Is it really a surprise for Motorola that they lost the leading place in mobile phone sales in the US? The RAZR success kept the handset producer on the first place for a time already longer than expected.
Samsung is now the new most successful producer in this country, most likely as a result of the great diversity in their devices. Samsung now controls 22.4% of the US market while Motorola stands at 21.1% after a stunning fall of 11.6%.
The North America market asks more for cheap low-end handsets which come for a small price and useful features, rather than high-end more expensive devices. Samsung was more skilled in accomplishing this, which is proved by the 10 million units it managed to sell here.
