The Motorola Moto G is a handset made interesting instantly once you learn its price: $179. The device reached us for testing purposes and we have the dual SIM version to play with. This handset was launched in November and it’s seen as a cheaper Moto X.
The device features a removable back cover, although it has no microSD card slot or removable battery. You can replace its cover with a differently colored one and behind this shell you’ll find a microSIM card slot at the top right and one at the bottom left of the device. This model is quite beefy, at 11.6 mm in thickness and 143 grams in weight.
It packs a 4.5 inch display, an IPS LCD with 720p resolution and Gorilla Glass protection. The device’s internal memory is 8/16 GB and we’ve also got 1 GB of RAM, HSDPA with 21 Mbps speed and WiFi. There’s a 5 MP back cam with autofocus, HDR, 720p video capture and slow mo video, plus a 1.3 MP front shooter.
The OS is Android 4.3, that runs on top of a quad core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The battery is a 2070 mAh non removable unit and we’ll be back with more intel over the following days.
