Motorola Droid RAZR has the tendency to become a series already, although not officially… We already have the Droid RAZR MAXX model, that brings a better battery, the Droid 4, that some see as a relative to the RAZR with keyboard and finally a newcomer, the RAZR Developer Edition. This one is meant for devs and brings an unlocked bootloader as extra.

It’s expected in Europe first and USA after, although we have no exact launch time frame. The info about the upcoming version of the RAZR came up in a recent official blog post, that detailed a fully unlockable version of the handset, meant for European countries. The announcement didn’t include a launch date, but it did include a pre-order page that right now doesn’t work. Imagine the joy of installing CyanogenMod 9 on the handset and having fun with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ahead of the real update.

Motorola already got close to developers in USA through the MOTODEV idea, the company’s developer network. Well, I guess the preorder page might be up by now, so be sure to check out the source link below during various times of the day. I’m willing to bet that the number of units is limited here and that not everyone can purchase the Developer Edition. Hopefully all companies will start offering such helping hands to devs, in the future, or at least Android phone makers. Sony already has an online bootloader unlock tool for starters…
