Motorola’s Atrix and Webtop laptop dock idea failed to catch on, because of the laptop dock and the Webtop software problems mainly. However, the product is still evolving and Webtop already reached version 3.0, that just got demoed in the video after the break.

The Webtop experience seems to be less customized, most likely due to the upgrades of Android 4.0, so Moto doesn’t have to go out of their way to scale the OS from a handset to the laptop experience. The older version had Firefox, if you remember, but the browser is gone now and all we have is the stock Ice Cream Sandwich browser, that’s still a pretty good browser, but some people would have liked Chrome to make an appearance here. This is all beta, so not everything you see here will make it to the final product.

They’re also working out the bugs and issues right now and everything seems to be moving in the right direction. Also, having heard that Android 5.0 Jelly Bean will bring some fresh tablet/notebook features, it will be interesting to see Webtop evolve under these conditions.
