RIM was also present in Barcelona, showcasing the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and its great multitasking abilities. The device is shown in action in the video below, as it manages to run Quake 3, play back a movie and run Adobe Reader at the same time. The slate makes great use of its 1GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and the QNX OS software environment.
We’re dealing with the very first RIM slate, one that uses a 7 inch multitouch LCD display (1024 x 600 pixels) and comes with a 5MP camera at the back and a 3MP one at the front. BlackBerry PlayBook will initially be available in a WiFi-only version, followed by 3G and 4G models afterwards.
Its specs also include DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, HD quality video conferencing, stereo sound and all of that in 400 gram heavy package, with a 10mm thickness. I’m really curious how a multitasking battle between webOS 3.0, QNX OS and Android 3.0 Honeycomb would go…
