We’ve had a chance to take a close look at the HTC Wildfire S in Barcelona, as the phone was demoed to our editor there, Zsolt Tamassy, also reporting for sister site Mobilissimo.ro. The handset is extremely compact and it uses a 3.2 inch touchscreen, while keeping the package light (105 grams) and the waistline at 12.4mm.

This device runs Android 2.3, customized with the aid of the HTC Sense interface and at the end of the demo, we found out that it comes with a 5 megapixel camera, that sadly doesn’t do HD recording. This means that the low cost properties of the first Wildfire are kept, although specs have been upgraded.

A 600MHz CPU is on board as well, plus 512MB of RAM and RAM and a 1230mAh battery, providing 430 minutes of chat time. The price is a mystery, but it should be around or below $100 with a carrier subsidy.
