Navigon recently launched an iPhone Car Kit, usable with its iOS navigation app and now announces an update for said application. MobileNavigator 1.8 brings forth augmented reality features, plus Safety Cameras. As far as the augmented reality side of things is concerned, this component is called Reality Scanner. You can get the app from here.

With Reality Scanner you’ll get an overlay of points of interest over a live camera view. The Safety Cameras function will warn the user of speed and red light cameras and you’ll get it as an in-app purchase for $4.99. Navigon also dropped prices for its products on the occasion of the update. Thus, a full application with maps for North America now costs $45, with the limited offer available till April 18th.

A database of over 3900 speed and red light cameras in the States awaits you, with regular updates and latest cameras detected.
