Google man Romain Guy has recently confirmed that the next Android iteration will be Ice Cream Sandwich, in an email responding to a code issue in Android 3.0 that will be fixed in the next version. This means that Ice Cream Sandwich will most likely be Android 3.1.

Eric Schmidt had previously confirmed that the new Android would bring tablet features to smartphones, so the future’s looking good, especially if you’re a Nexus S user. Such users usually get the latest Android first, but there’s always the leaked ROMs and software reaching the web faster than the official ways.

Meanwhile, we have the new Android dessert to look forward to, especially with Google I/O 2011 taking place this month in a matter of days.
