There’s a fresh leak in town, the one of a Nokia mystery phone, that comes with Android Nougat on board and a Snapdragon 430 CPU. The device is known as the Nokia D1C and it recently popped up in a GeekBench benchmark listing.
We’ve been hearing about Nokia prepping 2 or 3 smartphones with Android for a year end launch, with more models to come next year. Coincidence has it that today is the start of Q4 2016, the time frame when Nokia is allowed to start making devices under its own brand again, since the deal with Microsoft ends. Back to the leak, the Nokia D1C seems to be a midrange unit, since it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 CPU, an octa core unit with ARM Cortex A53 cores at 1.4 GHz.
It also has an Adreno 505 GPU, 3 GB of RAM and that’s where the listing ends. The CPU we mentioned above only supports up to Full HD resolutions, but we knew Nokia was prepping 2 Quad HD phones with Android for China, so this brings the total number of newcomers to 3. Those devices should also have Snapdragon 820 CPUs and high end cameras.
Foxconn and HMD will take these projects under their wings and it’ll be interesting to follow the avalanche of leaks that will surely come in this quarter.
