Nokia recently announced that it will be making low cost Windows Phone 7 handsets, although that seems unbelievable at this point, considering Microsoft’s minimum specifications required. Finnish company CEO Stephen Elop also claims that these devices will be available quite soon.
Hitting a low price point could have been one of the conditions of the negotiations between Nokia and Microsoft, as the Redmond giant tries to reach the lower end segment with its mobile platform. Considering that Nokia gets special treatment from the software company, it will have the ability to manipulate specs and choose processor makers to fit the lowest of specs and prices.
Combine that with classic quality Nokia hardware and you have a hit and maybe something to put a dent in that huge Android market share…
