You’ve surely tried Opera Mini at least once in your lifetime and you should be aware that this is one of the most popular mobile browsers on handheld devices. I’m talking about Symbian, Windows Mobile phones and even lower-end handsets that uses Java-based apps. Safari Mobile, on the other side is present on the iPhone and it’s a great browser as well, with its tabs, zooming, pinching and great speed.

But do we have a choice when it comes to the browser we use on the iPhone?

Apple tends to answer this question with a big “no”, as they refused to include Opera Mini for iPhone in the App Store. It’s sad to see the work of Opera’s engineers go to waste, just because their browser competes with Mobile Safari.

So much for hoping to use Mobile Firefox on Apple’s handset in the future, as that might prove an even greater challenge for Steve Jobs’ minions.
