Opera Mobile 9.7 uses the Presto 2.2 rendering engine and its most important feature is Opera Turbo, that speeds up the browsing experience by reducing bandwidth consumption with up to 80%. This is not the full version of Opera Turbo, but compression is pretty good, so you’ll be satisfied. There’s also an improved widget manager on board, with better usability and design, running independently from the browser.

The new Opera Mobile version supports hardware acceleration with OpenGL ES, for smoother scrolling, panning and a fluid UI. You’ll also be able to browser with the full richness of AJAX, pick up past browsing sessions and use the address auto-complete feature.
