On March 21st, OPPO launched its new flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find X6 Pro, featuring a spectacular camera system and optimizations made by Hasselblad. The company also launched the standard Find X6 model, but this article will focus on the Pro version.

Design and Display

The OPPO Find X6 Pro comes with significant design changes compared to its predecessor, with a massive circular camera module that protrudes from the back of the phone. The phone is available in black or green with a metallic finish AG glass back, and a third variant with a brown and white color scheme featuring a glass top and vegan leather bottom.

The phone’s display is a 6.82-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The OPPO Find X6 Pro promises a brightness of up to 2500 nits, and the panel is curved on the sides. The phone also features an optical under-screen fingerprint scanner.

The OPPO Find X6 Pro is a flagship smartphone that features the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, accompanied by 12 or 16 GB RAM LPDDR5X and 256 or 512 GB UFS 4.0 fast storage. There is no microSD slot, and the phone’s 5000 mAh battery can be charged via a 100W wired or 50W wireless charger. The battery promises to reach 80% capacity after 1600 charging cycles, double the industry standard.

Camera

he camera system is the most interesting feature of the OPPO Find X6 Pro. The phone features a 32 MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture and an IMX709 sensor, the same one found on the Find X5 Pro. On the back of the phone, there is a triple camera setup:

    • 50 MP wide, f/1.8, 23 mm, 1 inch, 1.6µm, PDAF, OIS, Laser AF
    • 50 MP ultra-wide, 15mm, 110 degrees, 1/1.56″, PDAF
    • 50 MP periscope telephoto, 65mm, 1/1.56″, 2x optical zoom, PDAF, OIS

The phone’s primary sensor is the Sony IMX989, a 1-inch sensor that is also found on the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the vivo X90 Pro. The wide-angle camera is a 50 MP sensor, and the periscope telephoto lens has a 2.8x optical zoom. Zoom capabilities are impressive, with a hybrid zoom of up to 6x and a digital zoom of up to 120x. There are several firsts on the periscope telephoto camera, including a 65mm equivalent focal length, an IMX890 1/1.56-inch sensor, and an f/2.6 aperture.

The camera setup also benefits from Hasselblad’s tuning software for colors, offering a Hasselblad Natural Color profile and Hasselblad Pro and XPAN modes. The Portrait mode combines the cameras to replicate the results of medium format lenses like the XCD30 and XCD80. Additionally, the camera setup uses the MariSilicon X imaging chip for improved accuracy and 42% better stabilization for the periscope camera.

The camera setup also allows for RAW capture with all three cameras and offers Dolby Vision 4K HDR video recording. The ultra-wide camera lens also offers macro capture at 4cm with less than 1% distortion.

Price and Availability

Unfortunately, the Oppo Find X6 Pro will only be available in China, with a starting price of 810 euros for the base configuration. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to see such impressive camera capabilities packed into a smartphone, and it’s likely that Oppo will continue to push the boundaries of smartphone photography in future releases.
