Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor promises to deliver an interesting alternative to the Tegra 3, through a quad core variant with LTE and a 28nm manufacturing process behind it. Qualcomm posted on the web some of the imaging achievements of the CPU, that include some very impressive feats, if you ask me. These will be detailed at MWC 2012, but till then you should enjoy the videos below.
The chipset’s Image Signal Processor is the special guest here and I can’t say that these feats are never before seen, since some of them are available in Qualcomm’s existing Snapdragon processors. One of these technologies is Scalado’s Rewind (shown in the image above). The new chipset brings support for up to 3 cameras (two at the back for 3D capture and one at the front), 20 megapixel sensors and 1080p HD video recording at 30 fps. There’s also zero shutter lag and Snapdragon S4 brings a proprietary 3A processing tech.
This one includes autofocus, auto exposure and auto white balance, plus a better blink/smile detection system, gaze estimation and range finding. Stabilization is obviously included for the perfect capture experience and I guess that not even the iPhone 4S looks impressive now, after seeing this. Gesture detection/control and augmented reality round up what looks like the perfect solution for cameraphones. More details in the videos below:
