Verizon Wireless has just announced that Samsung Alias 2 is now available, for $79.99 after a $50 mail in rebate, with a 2 year contract. The handset is a dual hinge phone and a premiere for the US: the first device with a mutable E-ink keypad.
Such a keypad changes its configuration according to the user’s action and regarding the phone, Alias 2 can open up vertically and it incorporates a numeric keypad, a 2.6 inch QVGA internal display, a 2 megapixel camera and voice commands.
We’re dealing with a flip phone that can be used in landscape mode, showing a QWERTY keypad, perfect for texting addicts and those who write tons of emails. From the unboxing experience and hands on videos we learn that the device’s build quality and texting are fantastic, the design is great, but the UI doesn’t get much love.
