Previous rumors said that the Galaxy S III would be a no show at this month’s MWC and they seem to have been true. Samsung went out and confirmed the info, saying that there will be a separate event in the first half of this year, meant to announce and detail the new product. Other than that they gave no clues on the handset…
Rumored to be a quad core Exynos affair, with LTE, NFC, a 12MP camera, 720p 4.6 inch display and Android 4.0, this phone has been the soul of many speculations and leaks recently. Its codename appears in many WiFi certification authorities databases and it’s the i9300 that’s worth keeping an eye on these days. MWC 2012 remains an interesting show, with HTC and LG surely bringing quad core phones and tablets to the show and Samsung also preparing a slate or two for debut in Barcelona.
However, the Galaxy S III would have really been the icing on the cake, if it were present at MWC. Since the Galaxy S II was seen as the flagship of all Android phones last year, we’re waiting for a successor to redefine the game and give us a direction for the rest of 2012. All other devices will be seen as mere “Galaxy S III rivals” after that… and then there’s the iPhone 5. It’ll be an exciting year, I tell you!
