You know it’s a major leak of the Samsung Galaxy S8, when respected source Evan Blass gets involved. He posted a new picture of the flagship and has some fresh intel about it, including a pretty sure launch date of March 29th.

Samsung already indicated a delay in the arrival of the device, that was a 99% sure miss for the MWC 2017 show. It would appear there’s indeed no physical Home button here and the design is largely similar to what we saw on the Note 7 and S7 Edge. This means curved screens all the way and the theory of two different diagonals for these models stands, with a 5.8 inch and 6.2 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED panel ready to be integrated.

They will cover about 83% of the front side of the device, quite a bit less than the rumored 90% of the LG G6. The unusual aspect ratio of the phone is 18.5:9, which deviates from the industry standard.. Android Nougat will be available here and as expected we’ll get a Snapdragon 835 CPU in some regions and a Samsung Exynos in others.

Both will be made using the 10 nm production process. As far as performance goes, they should be 11% faster than the CPU of the Galaxy S7 and provide 23% better graphics processing. The battery will be 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh for the 5.8 inch and 6.2 inch designs and somehow the RAM will remain at 4 GB, while the 64 GB storage is the new basic version.

USB type C will finally be included and we’ll get a 12 MP back camera with F/1.7 aperture like the S7, while its front 5 MP cam gets bumped to 8 MP. The leak continues, saying that the main cam will also bring a visual search functionality, letting the user do searches all around him, related to points of interest or shopping products. This reminds me of features seen on Xperias quite a few years ago. An iris scanner will also be here and the fingerprint scanner is now at the back.

Extras are represented by a sort of Continuum-like feature, called Samsung DeX, requiring a dock with HDMI connection and turning the whole equipment into a PC replacement, but with Android not Windows 10.

Samsung will also bring Bixby as its new virtual assistant and pressure sensitivity will be baked into the screen. The source also has info on the pricing, saying that in Europe the two S8 models will cost 100 euros more than last year’s S7, so the 5.8 inch S8 will go for 799 euros, while the 6.2 incher will be priced at 899 euros. Sales start on April 21st.

I have great faith in Evan Blass, so take the info with the minimum amount of salt.
