Just a couple of days ago, Samsung Pixon, the 8 megapixel cameraphone hit Romania in an official event that accompanied a fashion show which introduced designer Mihaela Glavan’s creations. Among the local celebrities present at the show were Catalin Botezatu (famous fashion designer, pictured below) and Andreea Esca (TV anchor).
Pixon will be available at local shops till the end of the year, through the folks of HAT Group Co. Romania and it’ll work on any carrier in the country. Pixon is made famous by an artistic initiative, that of photographer Nick Turpin, who’ll use the 8 megapixel cameraphone to capture aspects of his life. The resulting photos will be posted on this site.
Samsung Pixon is the slimmest full touch 8 MP cameraphone, only 13.8mm thick. Its camera supports x16 digital zoom, auto focus, fast shutter, geo tagging and facial detection. As far as connectivity goes, you’ll find GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (2100 MHz), Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 on the feature list.
Among the specs of the handset you’ll also find a WQVGA TFT LCD display (3.2″) with a 240 x 400 pixels resolution, a photo browser, online widgets (news, weather, stocks etc) and video capture/playback support. Pixon features a 200MB internal memory, a microSD slot, TV out and a 1000 mAh battery that’ll last 3 hours and 40 minutes of talk time and 20 hours in standby mode.
