Remember Samsung SCH-W880, the 12 megapixel cameraphone that follow-up the Pixon12 model? Well, some cruel soul managed to dissect the handset and photographed its camera module, that’s available below, for you to check out.
This sensor supports 3X optical zoom, a pretty neat feature for a mere handset. Samsung SCH-W880’s module was developed by Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) and it’s the world’s first module for mobile phones to integrate a 12 megapixel sensor with optical zoom.
The developer of this component also mentions that its flash related circuits will provide a constant brightness, allowing the user to take photos of subjects that are 10cm close, up to 150cm. This flash will affect the photos taken to subjects on a distance of up to 3 metres. The same sensor supports 1280 x 720 pixels video recording @ 30 fps, image stabilization, blink and face detection, macro mode and more.
