Sharp is once again the author of a brilliant phone design and once again the newcomer is part of the Aquos Crystal series. Dubbed Aquos Crystal Y, the phone is pictured below with its excellent bezel-free approach.

Of course, there are some people who don’t like this type of design, but it remains unique and very sleek. The handset has a 5.5 inch screen and sales have started today on the carrier Softbank. Priced at just $355 of contract, this model offers a Full HD resolution and for some reason it only runs Android 4.4 KitKat, not Lollipop.

Measuring 11 mm in thickness, the product is related to the Aquos Crystal X, with whom it shares many specs. Softbank offers it in red, white or black and other features include 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. As you can see there’s no earpiece at the top, so Sharp uses a special technology that transmits the sounds as vibrations through the front panel.

Harman/Kardon acoustics are also here, plus a 13 MP camera and a 2610 mAh battery.
