The new corporate structure inception and effective debut of the firm was on October 1st. It appears that the South China region is fast turning into a manufacturing hub for PCs, handsets and consumer electronic components. LCD modules are probably the most important component to expect a higher demand from. SDSZ is aimed at meeting the increase of component sales in China, according to Sharp.

With the likes of LG Display and Samsung Display getting much credit for their panels, particularly Samsung for its AMOLEDs, it’s tough for Sharp to catch a break nowadays. They do get some orders from Apple, but other major companies prefer Samsung’s solutions. Maybe this Chinese arm will help them evolve.
