If you want a mid-end handset made by Sharp, you’re in luck, as the Asian company has decided to expand its horizons further from the motherland Japan. Well, now they will release the new SH8188U model in North America, Europe and other parts of Asia, according to Bluetooth SIG.

This model runs Android 2.2 Froyo, using a WVGA display, 3G connectivity and WiFi. There’s also a HDMI port on board, a 5MP camera and HD video recording. A couple of Chinese websites confirm the debut of this model in China, but nothing about Europe and NA just yet, although Bluetooth SIG can be trusted, I think.

Now let’s see Sharp launching a high end clamshell on our side of the pond too!
