Sony Ericsson appears to be planning its very first HD display phone, or better said Sony has such plans, considering the recent buyout of the 50% share that Ericsson had in SE. Supposedly called Xperia Arc, the 1280 x 720 pixel handset relies on Bravia engine technology and should keep the curved design of the Arc.

Considering that HTC has just announced today the Rezound model, its very first 720p model, the trend is growing highly popular. LG and Samsung also have 720p handsets in their portofolio, so now only Motorola is left to surprise us with a device like this and of course Sony. Rumors say that the Xperia Arc HD is in fact the Nozomi codenamed device leaked a while ago.

This model is supposed to use a 1.5GHz dual core processor and a 720p display, both hot features even for 2011. 4.3 inch could be the diagonal of choice for the new smartphone from the Arc series, but isn’t it a bit early to upgrade the Arc S, that’s been announced just weeks ago? The question here is whether or not the Arc HD will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from the box, or receive it as an upgrade in early 2012.
