Although some Taiwanese companies are recording impressive results are far as shipments of devices are concerned, overall the Taiwan handset shipments for Q2 2011 grew less than 10%. The reason? Most local handset ODMs had their orders depleted as the clients phase the models out the market.

Meanwhile, HTC and Arima Communication still see strong shipment growth in Q2 2011. HTC alone accounted for more than 50% of Taiwan’s shipments in this segment. The country’s smartphone shipments were close to 15 million units in Q2, a growth of 112.2% on year, and with 2.5 million units from the previous quarter.

HTC stand for 80% of the country’s smartphone delivers and reached a new historical high in shipments share, being the first company to pass the 50% mark since 2007.
