Yesterday we found out that Toshiba has a mighty smartphone coming, the incredibly hot TG01, that packs a 4.1 inch touchscreen display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz CPU. SlashGear got some footage of the device, in action, while they were attending the launch event in London. Here’s bit of the GUI action below:

The interface that accompanies Windows Mobile 6.1 is quite finger-friendly, although not linear as HTC TouchFLO 3D. This GUI uses rotating vertical panes that you’ll sweep sideways in order to access apps or find the option you’re looking for. TG01 also supports opening apps by tilting the phone left or right, since it incorporates an accelerometer.

There’s even an option for manually setting the performance of the Snapdragon chipset!

When it comes to video playback, the above-mentioned CPU is surely a performer and the display is also great, showing 800 x 480 pixel crisp and bright video and images. Motion blur is practically non-existing and colors are well-saturated, but more of that in the video below:

Gaming on Toshiba TG01 has got to be an unique experience, but not necessarily in a good way, since the device doesn’t support multitouch, it doesn’t feature physical buttons, so it only relies on its resistive screen. Here’s a video demo of a racing game being played on the new Toshiba smartphone:
